The general framework for this draft was procured from one of the leagues that I have been in for the past few years. That league is five years strong and the draft is overall a very smooth process. Granted a large portion of that success is active managers who are focused on the league as well as their team's success.
It is extremely important also that your fellow GMs be PMed/e-mailed once they are on the clock and a short list be forwarded to an admin should the selecting GM not be available for their pick.
In addition, I plan on tracking all traded picks on the "Traded Pick Tracking" thread. That will help me finalize these draft's threads upon the season finalization.
I think this framework will help with this league's success.

Looks good. But doesn't having assigned times for each pick eliminate the need for PMing and e-mailing?

Looks good. But doesn't having assigned times for each pick eliminate the need for PMing and e-mailing? To some extent, but many GMs get instant notfication with today's technology, thus it goes that much quicker. We were often ahead of the timeline this past draft.

First of all, draft for 2011 is completed. (See 2011 Entry Draft thread for details) Standings are not posted on proboards, but you can find the league's page for last year by putting your cursor over "My Leagues" on Fantrax and clicing "League History" also here's a link to the page www2.fantrax.com/fantasy/home.go?leagueId=uswrjxkmgaadzwir

This league doesn't recognize the NHL draft lottery?

This league doesn't recognize the NHL draft lottery? This was been discussed on several occasions (prior to my Commish'in) in the past and there was limited amount of interest in implementing it.

just curious about the hours of the picks. Noticed 1st round is 3 hours a pick and everything after is 2 hrs or 1 hr. How does it work for those who aren't in the EST that are scheduled to go on the clock at 8 am-11 or 8am-10 which if you're on pacific time is 5am-8am?

All times are EST. 3 hour windows in the 1st round are made to allow GMs to explore trade options if they so desire. They are more often the picks that get moved during a draft, therefore they get a bigger window.
Unfortunately not everyone is in EST. Some of us are in Pacific Time and some are also in Central European Time. There is no way to make it convient for everyone. Those GMs that have difficulties with the time zone differences are encouraged to
1. make a special effort 2. leave a short list or 3. seek trade options early

I sorta expect our draft selections to be quite different to the NHLs this year after #1.

I have laft a post in the "going away" thread ut I will post a notice here as well. I am away on vacation and although I have my laptop with me I can't guarantee that I can get my 1st rd picks done. banger (CBJ gm) has agreed to make my picks for me. We have discussed the draft and Iam confident that he will do a great job for me. I have no picks after that until the 3rd rd and I should be home by then.

Just want to ensure everyone is aware. If a time passes without a pick and the next time slot begins, the GM in the new time slot may make their selection. All missed picks will be made up by the rules outlined at the top of each rounds thread.

not that those people on the clock atm are taking too long....but is it too intrusive for the commish to send an email to some of the guys when it's their pick? obv we want to keep this moving. but some guys haven't logged in to proboards in a while and could be on the clock for over 24 hours.
Is a quick email to those 5 or 6 people who don't log in frequently a big deal? just to say 'hey, youre on the clock' ...or maybe this is already being done...
