The guy was drafted around where he should have been...end of story. We're not talking about some elite talent here (cough Jagr...cough). ya I agree , If you guys really want him maybe offer van who you grabbed in teh first round. I'm sure vancuvers isnt overly attached to brunner

1. I agree that we shouldn't change what has already happened (ie. have a repick and/or a consolation pick).
2. I agree that Brunner was picked at roughly market value, and that he specifically isn't worth the argument.
3. However, I do think it is unfair because not everyone had the same access.
4. Let's use this as a precedent to make our league rules better for next time. This is exactly how things should work: something happens for the first time, it is not offside as the rules are written, but it points to a need for the rules to evolve.
4. For simplicity, i would say that that draft should only deal with draftees; every other minor leaguer who is signed but not NHL-drafted can only be picked up via free agency.
5. Any rule change should be by vote, and after the draft is over. If it was allowed for Brunner, it should be allowed for any other new signing this year.
6. Fantasy hockey follows the same rules as the universe: timing is everything, and sometimes, you're lucky.
Just my thoughts... Back from camping and now have internet access to type out my soliloquies... aren't you all glad. :-p

with the roster size not going up, this is going to happen. I agree with Zap, now you are going to have to drop prospects to add prospects because of roster size. It takes a prospect (later round ones)about 4-6 years to develop either into an NHLer or career minor leaguer, especially with goalies. I think 30 prospects would be an ideal # as it is 6 years x 5 rounds. I am hoping one of later round draft picks from the first 2 years start to pan out as you can never have enough shot blocking D men. I am happy the way the draft has been set up with the timelines. Rich did a great job, so we know approximately when we draft which is good for me as I am on the road for work during day with poor cell service some time. Also I like the autodrafting for teams that missed with the highest ranked player. This will help to replace owners in future as the team at least has some decent draft picks from the appropriate round. One thought I had was that teams who missed pick could pick any time before round end (there can always be uncontrollable circumstances sometimes) that way whoever is next up has to consider that the missed picks could happen so they have to make there decisions quicker - not sure if this happened. Overall I am happy with draft process as we know when it starts and when it ends - sometimes we just can't controll what happens in between. Good job Rich

If a missed pick occurs, that GM has the ability to make a selection until the Auto-pick deadline hits. Unexpected things do occur in life, so some leeway is given.

Edmonton tied up at work. Will make his selections at a later time per his request. NY Rangers now on the clock.

My apologies for missing the 4th round selection. A PM did come in to let me know I'm just flat out tied up at work at the moment working some really strange shifts....

Since Colorado getting skipped is kind of a foregone conclusion at this point, can I just go ahead and make my pick?

not sure if this was covered, but do we add our picks to our team or does the commish do it? I will do it after they download. By me doing it, I can track who has not been processed better.

Yes Rich, thank you. You do a lot for the league and I'm sure everyone is appreciative. On another note, there was a banner on the top of the league website about payment for the league. Did you pay that? If so, I would like to contribute.

Draft time-line offically over, however there are a few miss picks and one re-pick that will be allowed until 12 Noon EST tomorrow. In addition, I need to scrub to verify I don't have any additional duplicate picks.
All in all, it was a very good draft that well fairly smoothly. Thank you to those who participated and especially those who assisted me in the admin process and also proofing process.
