I've spent some time on Fantrax and set us up now as a Head-to-Head League. I set the values for each category (the same ones from last year) to 1. The schedules are set and I made the playoffs 4 rounds just like the NHL. These changes are of course in keeping with what the league was set up to be like.
I also opened up trading for the offseason so PLEASE go in and do your trades on Fantrax if they're not done already.
I also sent out invites to the one's who haven't gotten them so you all can be active on our Fantrax page.
Thanks all,
Co-Co. Yas/ Buffalo

I don't think I've received a fantrax invite and if I have I don't know where it is.

That's great news, gguthe. Thanks for making that happen. My team fell short last year only because they weren't built for a roto setup. We'll be running away with the league by New Years.

Maybe I'm slow on the uptake here but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around what the difference is. From what I understand, it's still based on Roto stats so the only difference is that you compete against one person at a time and not the entire league.......therefore Roto stats aren't cumulative, they essentially reset after each H2H matchup. I'm not seeing how this would affect the makeup of a team, but I'll admit I've never done H2H before.

I'm not seeing how this would affect the makeup of a team, but I'll admit I've never done H2H before. The difference, at least in my mind, comes down to frequency and predictability. I might have the worst PPP in the league, but in a H2H I'll probably steal 15-25% of the matchups because one guy goes off and PPP doesn't reach particularly high total each week. Same with G, A, etc. However, other categories like Hits, Saves, SOG, and FO% are more stable over the course of a season and also have higher totals, meaning that there is less of an impact when one player has a big game.

Umm.. but this was originally planned to be a Head-to-Head Roto Style scoring league, right? And this still isn't available as an option on Fantrax...
Setting all values to 1 in a Fantasy Points League only means that 1 shot will give the same Fantasy points as 1 goal - which certainly is not what you aimed for, right?
So, if we're going to do Head-to-Head Points based this season, we will have to come up with a fair points distribution and not 1 point regardless of category.

No, our intention most definitely WAS to make every category equal, just as each category was valued equally this past year. In a pool this deep, it is important that peripheral stats be valued highly.

But setting everything to 1 is NOT making things equal. What it does is giving 1 Fantasy Point per shot and 1 Fantasy Point per Goal and 1 Fantasy Point per Block and so on - and then all points are lumped together and the team with the most points wins. So if you want a player who puts 4 shots on net but doesn't do anything else get the same points as someone who has 1 Shot, 1 Goal, 1 Assist and 1 Hit then go ahead.
In other words - I am happy to see that Cal Clutterbuck and Tuomo Ruutu are both worth a lot more than Steven Stamkos, because they get 300+ Fantasy Points just for their Hits!
