I can't seem to find where it says how this league works towards the end of the season. Is this a roto league that stays Roto the whole way? If so, is the combined roto standings page the only one that matters? Or is it Roto until a certain point and then so many teams make the playoffs? Are those playoffs roto or h2h?

This league did not have playoffs last year and there has been no discussion thus far for it this year.
I was hoping to bring up the discussion of playoffs during the season, but thus far my time constaints have been pushed pretty hard. Ultimately I would like to see this league have playoffs. In addition, I would like to see the regular season winner (President's Cup) and playoff winner (Stanley Cup) be awarded a reward of a decent extra draft pick. Both of my other 30 team dynasty leagues award ones in similar fashion. I was thinking two picks between the 1st and 2nd round. #31 for our President's Cup winner and #32 for our Stanley Cup winner.

I like that idea of awarding extra picks after the first round. another thought would be to add an extra pick to the division winners, say after the second round. gives a reward to thoseteams but doesn't effect the teams with early first round picks.
re: playoffs we were suppose to ba a H2H pool. Would we be able to do a top 16 for the last 4 weeks for playoffs. The bottom 14 teams could have their own playoff format, maybe reward the winner with an extra first round pick, runner up 2nd round, 3rd extra 3rd, 4th extra 4th. ( just a thought) or we could somehow turn it into determining lottery picks.

I think there should be some form of a playoff. Without it, the last month or two only matters to a handful of teams. With it, the last month or two matters to 20 teams or so and will increase league activity. The main reason against a playoff system is typically that it does not reward the winner of the regular season, the marathon, the team that proves its the best over a long period of time. Giving that team the 31st overall pick would help null that argument.
Have the top 16 (all division winners + wild cards) make the playoffs. The first two weeks will eliminate 8 teams. Then the remaining 8 battle for another two weeks to determine the winner. It can all be done roto. And I think it would add a lot of excitement and relevance to the league come march and april.
And like Stars said, a playoff for the bottom 14 would also be a pretty good idea. Although maybe for a pick between the 2nd and 3rd rounds, and not the 33rd overall pick.

I would suggest the play-off format from my FHL which I haven't seen used anywhere else but has worked for the past 4 years.
Of course it is easy to change it to top 16 teams if everyone prefers, it is far from a perfect system but the play-offs in the NHL are not a perfect system. The Best teams don't necessarily win the Stanley Cup, just the better team in a best of 7 series at that time.
in the ZFHL (where the rules come from) I had always intended the play off roster to use 6 forwards, 3 defencemen and 1 G (basically half of the regular season roster in that league) so the numbers can all be altered to fit whatever works for this league the best.
Running the Dirty 30 play-offs consecutively with the NHL play-offs obviously is not easy as predict which NHL teams are going to make the play-offs let alone the 2nd, 3rd or final NHL play-off rounds and that is where a certain amount of strategy and luck come into play.
Finally the reward for winning the Stanley Cup should be a draft pick but not as high a draft pick as for winning the Presidents Trophy.
in the ZFHL we go with: Presidents Cup winner gets #31 Stanley Cup winner gets #32
