The past few seasons have highlighted the problems with a H2H league made of 30 teams who do not have 100% commitment to keeping up with daily line changes. Whether it is partially active GMs, GM's quitting without informing the Admins or even those teams who might fudge the books for better draft picks. In a H2H format this has a ripple effect that it skews Wins and Loses for all teams and can have huge repercussions on those teams who are trying to compete for the championship.
With Roto stats the only teams who are harmed by inactivity are those teams.
Options
1. Stay with H2H format 2. Return to Roto 3. Doesn't matter to me.

As a team that would have done better in standings last season were it roto, I prefer H2H.
Roto leagues are usually very passive and not as enjoyable in terms of week to week. I like seeing a player on my team have a monster game and know I'll see instant impact for the matchup. Roto is more set it and forget it type league which can be good for some but not for me.

I prefer H2H as well mostly because I wanted some diversity in the leagues I was in. I was in 3(2 now though my former team in the other league no seems to want)-1-Roto, 1 H2H, and the 3rd which I am not in any longer was the league I chose to get my ass kicked in regardless of the scoring system.
I tend to think that roto almost encourages GM's to ignore their teams and regardless of what system(and yes I guess there would be less micro-management to some extent but there will still be many teams not moving injured or dead players out of their lineups in their almighty quest for someone not yet old enough to drink or shave.

It's been discussed before but I prefer the issue of roster compliance to be tackled by making more players available as UFA. Reduce the 110 games minor limit to something more inline with the amount of teams in the league/active slots (60-80) and remove a bench spot. This will make actual NHLers, as bad as they might be, available to fill injury holes for rebuilding teams to stay compliant.
Makes no sense for example to have the ability to send Tkachuk/Matthews/Konencny from my team to minors for another 30-40 games. These guys are established NHLers. 60-80 games is plenty to lose minor eligibility.

I have to say, if you are voting to keep the league H2H then you are going to be the new Admin and Commish of the league. I won't do it going forward. I joined this league originally for the H2H format because I had never done it before and wanted the diversity of it as well. Having said that it is a nightmare to convince 30 GM's that doing their line changes daily in this format is integral for the integrity of the league.
if 1 GM skips changing their lineup to the optimal lines for 1 week, you get a team winning a weak by a margin they probably shouldn't have. That skews the entire league come the end of the season. You get a GM winning the league who probably shouldn't have only because they happened to hit a few GM's during the season who were "to busy" to upkeep their team.
There were so many teams last season who weren't keeping their roster up to date day to day, it's why I did resign as an Admin. H2H is probably only practical in a 10-16 team league or a money league where each GM actually has $$$ invested in doing their line changes daily.
I can only speak for myself but if next season isn't Roto I'm following through with my plans to resign as an Admin and let someone else try to police the league. Also knowing that the league has no integrity as GM's are not doing their line changes properly on any given week, winning the league really doesn't mean that much to me either.
Just one man's opinion.
to counteract tankers next season there will be a minimum games played threshold that all GM's will have to be over or face sanctions against their 1st round pick. also with the implimentation of the NHL's lottery system it will also take away from a teams desire to tank for the #1 over all pick as that is no longer a guarantee.

Any chance we could get resolution on this sooner than later? And for which season would the change take effect?
I'm probably out if we switch to Roto. When Paul, Glen and I first started the pool seven years ago we thought that Roto was the way to go since it's the most statistically representative of the best team. Despite winning in that format, I never found it interesting. Moreover, I think it actually reduces participation as it's harder to ascend the standings in a Roto league once you've fallen behind early. Sure, the impact of that non-participation does not disproportionately affect any GM as compared to another (which I agree is a concern with H2H) but having a league with inactive participants is going to suck no matter which way you slice it. Anyway, I'm just not much of a fan of Roto any more and would sooner support a change to contract the league than revert its format.
That said, let's figure out when any change would occur sooner than later, as I don't want to waste my time thinking about things this off-season if I'm not even going to be around come October.

We should determine what teams are available. There will always be turnover each year. We should be able to recruit a couple new owners if needed, especially this time of year. I would rather stay with H to H.

Then points based. No complaints about not being able to catch up there. If you are Adamant about H2H, guess what you are the new Admins. Enjoy.

To me, a true roto leaves little to those who like to make trades mid season. Is there such thing as a week to week roto? For example, depending on where you rank roto wise for that week, you get the following points:
1st: 5 points 2-3: 4 points 4-5: 3 points 6-10: 2 points 11-15: 1 point 16-20: 0.5 point 21-30: 0 points
There was 26 weeks last season so it'd mean max points is 130 points (26 x 5 points).
Still gives some incentive to improve team during the season since having multiple top 10 finishes can help you catch up to the 16-30 teams and make playoffs. It's still roto but there's enough week to week to maintain interest.
Furthermore, I think it's important to reduce minors game limit. minor cycling is another danger of roto. No reason for 80+ game NHLers to be minor eligible IMO.

We do not have a majority winner, therefore we will stay head-to-head for next season.
I hope the conversation continues, so that we can have clear direction for upcoming seasons.
