June 29th, 2015: MTL GM purchases ownership of the storied Montreal Canadiens franchise.
Also, just for my own edification as the following players were listed on my team page but not on Fantrax and were officially released prior to the start of last season I am noting them here:
Adam Hall, Zenon Konopka, Denis Grebeshkov, Anssi Salmela, Danny Syvret and Marc Cheverie.
Also to be formally announced shortly, Daniel Alfredsson will officially retire from Les Canadiens and have his #11 retired and hanging from the rafters of the Bell Centre. Additionally he will be accepting a position as Special Assistant to the Owner/GM.
Also Adrian Aucoin who retired awhile back will have his #33 retired as well. He will accept a position with the team as Assistant Coach(Defensemen).
June 29th, 2015: Montreal trades Rickard Rakell and their 2016 3rd Round Pick to the Calgary Flames for Jeff Petry and Vancouver's 1st Round Pick in 2015(25th overall).
June 29th, 2015: Montreal waives the following players: Keven Veilleux, Casey Wellman, Stephen Silas and Matt Climie.
June 30th, 2015: Montreal waives Stu Bickel and Frederic St. Denis.
June 30th, 2015: Montreal waives Maxim Trunev
So we call the KHL eh and we say Maxim, you want to come play for the best team in the world, the Montreal Canadiens. He says ok how much you pay me. He say he want to be paid like David Clarkson. We say don't worry Maxim we will pay you. You can't skate or score and have no defensive awareness, but we will pay you. Maxim he say Toronto Maple Leafs my favorite team. Where is this Montreal? We say mange la merde and we hang up.
June 30th, 2015: Montreal trades Cody McLeod to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Andrej Sustr and Paul Postma.
July 2nd, 2015: Montreal officially announces Mike Keenan as their Head Coach for the 2015-16 NHL season. Mitch Korn will be the Goaltending Coach with Justin Goldman serving as an advisor. Adrian Aucoin had been announced as the Assistant Coach/Defensemen and Guy Boucher will be the Assistant Coach/Forwards.
July 2nd, 2015:Montreal announces that Martin St. Louis announces his retirement. His #26 will be retired and hang from the rafters of the Bell Centre with those of Daniel Alfredsson and Adrien Aucoin.
August 11th, 2016: Since he now available the Montreal Canadiens hire Patrick Roy as their new Head Coach and Director of Player Operations.
