so I noticed a few GM's placing suspended players on IR this season and wondered why. The league rules don't really specify this situation.
I checked the fantrax settings for this season and is checked in.
I checked last years fantrax settings and this setting is not checked in.
Is this an oversite to be changed and why was this change not discussed prior to it's implementation?

Wasn't aware this wasn't an option last year.
Its not a huge deal to me. If Ashton shouldn't be on IR, I'll take him off. I assumed it was ok because Fantrax allowed it and we don't have any rule stating that we couldn't. Makes sense if we missed including it in the league rules if Fantrax automatically enforced it.
When Colorado actually asked this exact question a while ago and no one gave him a real answer, I assumed no one cared haha.
If this was an oversight, I'll just fix it. If this was changed on purpose, it'll probably warrant some discussion.

Just wondering about the change without discussion or confirmation I guess.

Like you said, its no game changer. Personally, its not like Ashton's 2 minutes of ice time per game really made a big impact lol

I do not recall making the change to Fantrax, but I do recall having conversations with some GMs including Zaph about approving that requirement for injured players who's NHL team decided to suspend rather than place on IR (ie Harding). Logic behind this decision as previously mentioned was the new CBA allowed NHL teams to make that determination which is irrelevant to this league.

So are we changing the setting back to not allowing suspended players to be on IR? or will we keep the option checked in on Fantrax and just let it be known that its only for very unique "Josh Harding" type circumstances?

NHL teams will suspend a player for injuring themselves off of the ice, as it was not a hockey related injury and thus it saves them the money.

Logic behind this decision as previously mentioned was the new CBA allowed NHL teams to make that determination which is irrelevant to this league. if we are focused on irrelevant league issues, we should find a way to allow any injured players, not only players that their NHL teams put on IR (red flag with +) on IR because the reasoning for a team to not put a player on IR vs just scratching them for being injured is also irrelevant to our league. just food for thought.
