O yeah it is fine to disagree but to only point out my biases and not be open about yours (until now) is not okay with me. I know your points and disagree that is all. whatever you guys decide to do that's fine. I'm going to be on autopilot. There is no point in this back-and-forth with you all. I'll ride out this year and try to be a decent Co-Commish but I'm not going to put forth opinions as a rule for myself now in this league. After this season I'll see what I want to do. In the mean time here is some reading for you all

Here's the part that I find troubling with your arguments and this is partly why I've gotten so intensely involved with this debate:
Part of your reasoning for expanding the minors is because you have picks that you want to be able to keep without letting anyone go (part of the human condition.....when asked to choose between blueberry pie and pecan pie the best answer always seems to be 'yes please!') . I can understand why you feel this way but please try to look at the bigger picture here. We already have a 25 man roster and people don't feel that's enough, so lets just say we expand to 30 and next year you still like all your prospects, would you then be satisfied with the 30 man roster or would we be talking about a 35 man roster. The cycle goes on and on and on ad nauseam.
In terms of the expanded minors being a benefit for rebuilding teams I can attest to the fact that this is only true in rare circumstances. As Sami pointed out, there will be the occasional GM who is savvy enough with prospects to make the extended farm work for them and actually pull the team out of the cellar but more often than not many of the most savvy GM's are already at the top of the standings so the net result is the strong get stronger and the weak get weaker. I know it's hard to separate yourself from this argument but I've seen this happen many times over in other 30 team leagues and it becomes a problem. It's one thing to inherit a gutted NHL roster when there are viable prospects available through free agency, it's quite another when 99% of all prospects are already hidden away. Rebuilds under these circumstances take 5 years minimum and it's rare to find a GM who's patient enough to see it through.
For anyone new to these sorts of leagues please trust that I have no hidden agenda here, I simply want a strong league. For those who have experience to refute what I've said I'd love to hear how similar situations played out in your leagues.
