Concur in that it was a good pick. Sometimes you have to swing for the fences otherwise you'll never hit a home run.

I figure I'll put Simon Hjalmarsson with Lethera and Soderberg on the same line. Their my Swedish Connection.

You broke my streak of being the first to take non-drafted players in the first round (Cervenka, Raanta). That trio is looking very nice at the moment. Good work.

Shopping picks 46,56,66 and 86.
I'd like to move up from 46 and will pay based on how far up you can move me.

St Louis selects Simon Hjalmarsson He recently signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets before our draft started (June 30th) and has no NHL career games played. (See rules Section K, subsection 4 for clarification of our draft rules, if necessary) What is the rationale behind limiting the draft to players drafted this season? I realise that the draft is also open to players who signed contracts during the roster freeze but let's put them aside for the moment. I'm not sure that I understand why Robin Press, for example, is ineligible for the draft. It seems odd that we would preclude reaching back to prior drafts. I can't say that I feel strongly about it either way. In fact, from a practical perspective, there are likely few players available from prior drafts who are worth scooping. And from a selfish perspective, I actually benefit from this rule since I usually rely on free agency to acquire prospects. Anyway, I just wanted to share that thought which crossed my mind while monitoring a draft in which I have no picks (oh how I wish there were hockey to watch).

[ we don't limit or preclude them. you can select any player that has been drafted by an NHL team in any year and has played less than 40 nhl games. u can also select any player(undrafted in real-life) who signs an NHL contract prior to the beginning of our draft. Hjalmmarson dind't need a contract to be picked in our draft since he was drafted in real life by an NHL team. So...Press can be yours if you so desire

I shared your view but figured I'd double-check the rule before clarifying Rich's post. Section K.4. starts with "Only players drafted in the NHL draft of THAT SEASON [emphasis added] or signed by an NHL team after the completion of the regular season are eligible to be drafted."

And while we're on the topic, there is inconsistency in Section I. Subsection I(v) states that a retired player is not eligible for our farm system and therefore must take up an active roster. However, the final note in Section I says the exact opposite. Sorry to belabour these technicalities but I think that we should clean this stuff up to avoid any uncertainty.

If we look back to this old thread, you pointed this out about the language being oppositional to the way we operate and the Commish agreed that it was simply a case of poor wording and needed to be re-written to be more clear, The end result being that they are eligible just as they have been in previous years. dirt30.proboards.com/thread/1285/status-chl-college-free-agentswe do need to clean up the language on that rule for sure.

Okay, I have two questions:
1) Can I draft Robin Press?
2) Who the hell is Robin Press?

Wow...I am going to have to trade up to make sure I get him. I'd consider that my most Pressing need.
