In the NHL, a hot goalie can almost singlehandedly win the cup. A few years ago, Ovi and the Caps ran into Halak and the Habs, who outhit and outblocked. Over the series, Washington still outscored the Habs, but lost the series. The next round - same thing: Montreal did not outscore Pittsburgh, but still won.
From that standpoint of trying to mimic the NHL, 9 skater cats vs 3 goalie cats, (3:1 ratio vs 2:1), it could skew things a bit...

I do not like dropping SV% and using GAA but I like the rest.....not a big deal as I'll still vote for the new format but I'd really like to see us use the best available stats.
Can anyone explain why they'd prefer to drop one of the most important goalie stats and keep one of the most useless? Both are equally affected by small sample size so that doesn't really play into the discussion.
SV% is generally seen as the defining indicator of goalie ability while GAA is a reflection on the team as a whole (goalie included) but is not necessarily an indicator of goalie quality.

something should be changed as I almost won in the first round with just shutout from fleury (against eventual winners TBL), however a team that has no goalie shouldnt be as or more competative as a team that doesnt. but i guess its also true that despite winning each goalie cat I did not win that first round. I agree with this. while both are affected by team would you rather have a goalie that lets in 1 of 5 shots or 1 of 20.
