Make your selection. Either
a. Buyout rules will be eliminated from the league rules or
b. Buyout rules will be modified sometime between our draft and start of our free agency. Details are unknown at the moment.

I love the spirit of the buyout but it is too difficult to maintain, imo.

Maybe for buyouts you have to do them after our season ends and before the next season starts. That way you can't dump players at any time and if someone signs a new crazy contract in the off season then you can release them before the season starts or whatever deadline we decide.

i think that buyout is a great rule but too much difficult to use in a 30 team league...

I actually like this part...if you take on Brian Campbell and his $7million dollar contract a month into the season, you can't toss him if it isn't working out for you a month later. You should have to wait until the day before free agency or the day after regular season ends and cut bait leaving some of the lower seeded teams with cap room to pick him back up.

That way you can't dump players at any time and if someone signs a new crazy contract in the off season then you can release them before the season starts or whatever deadline we decide. the problem is still that buyouts need to be declared by the GM dropping the player which is going to potentially hurt their team and not all players that are waived are bought out. it is asking the fox to guard the hen house. This is a league that allows all of its GMs to do their own transactions and so you need to police each and every player dropped a GM makes and that becomes a huge number of transactions to police so some will slip through the cracks. It would be nice to expect 30 GMs to care about the honor system but it has been shown that they don't. The rule is that a player waived from the D30 active or bench roster need to be bought out but the reality is that fantrax doesn't know if a player is on the active/bench or is in the minors. Figure out a way to track and police that properly and then the buyout rule makes sense to implement.

How about putting a cap on the number of drops a team is allowed in a season?

yea when the league was started i think i was one of the major supporters of buyouts, I was even goign to be the one to track it but then got busy and couldn't. Mostly I was thinking people would have to be more cautious as to who they grabbed and wouldnt take guys just as a flier they might pan out, but i guess since we can't outpay other GMs for guys buyouts arent as necessary as we cant screw over another team just by having more money.

so is buyout rule eliminated? Poll closed out so, yes buyouts are eliminated and the playoff format change was approved. Will make the necessary rule changes in the next couple days.
