Over the course of this season, there have been multiple instances of player transaction confusion, mostly around procedural issues. The entire bureaucracy of trying to add a player to your team is--pardon the technical term--nutso. If the problem was just me, I'd try yet again to read through the rules and figure out exactly what the issue is, but it happens almost weekly to a lot of people in the league. That doesn't seem to be just me, it seems that things are way over-complicated.
For example:
There is a thread called New Contract Waivers, which is apparently where one must go to claim a non-drafted player who just signed a contract with an NHL team and is now on one-week waivers and if that player isn't claimed he becomes unavailable until the next draft, but the thread isn't called "claims." Its called "waivers." The player who was a free agent, and was just signed, doesn't get claimed in "Free Agent Signings." And if you try to make a claim on a player there, you get met with a "This is the wrong thread" curt reply without any kind of guidance, at all.
Or, if you want to simply add an current NHLer to your team, you have to post a signing thread, then go to Fantrax and add him to your team, but you can only do that once per day (I think) and twice per week (I think) and maybe eight times per month (I think). Does that include claims on non-drafted players who just signed a contract with an NHL team and is now on one-week waivers and if that player isn't claimed he becomes unavailable until the next draft? I seriously have no idea.
Should we have a system in which one of the league moderators feels it necessary to post a player claim in multiple threads just "cover his bases"? Wouldn't this just be a lot easier to run through fantrax and not have to go through all of these apparently useless bureaucratic measures? Or at least simplify the posting procedures somehow? As it is, the current system is obscure enough that it makes me contemplate leaving the league.
