Prospect Rules

Please Note only prospects originally picked up via our yearly entry league Draft or are available (previously signed an NHL contract) may be picked up during the course of a season.
This is particularily important to take note of as Fantrax sometimes has undrafted future prospects on their FA list.
Nondrafted or unsigned FA prospects are ineligible to be picked up at anytime.

How long can a team keep a player in the minors if called up by NHL team?
A player shall be considered a Protected Prospect until he has exceeded 90 games in the NHL (45 for a goalie).
(If Exceeding this #)Please note Such a player should be activated in line with the following rule:
(i)Player must be activated immediately after his 90th NHL Game (45th for a goalie), or he will be released upon the infraction being discovered.
(ii)Also if any player, even if he exceeds the above quota, is sent to minors, by his real NHL team, he may be sent down. Owners are responsible to post a legit site on the message board showing he has been sent down.
Please note this also applies to players (over the Prospects GP limit) who are playing in other leagues (such as KHL) other then NHL.
Similarily, he should be recalled if the NHL team calls him back up/comes back to NHL.
Please note, such a player (sent down other than for rehab - see below) should be activated in line with the following rule:
Player must be activated immediately after his 1st game back in the NHL.
(iii)Rehab Exception - Any player sent down for rehab during the season may also be sent down to your farm club.
Please note, such a player should be activated in line with the following rule: Must be activated no later than the eve of his 2nd NHL Game back.

**Please Note - Suspended players, unless Farm eligible, cannot be sent down to Farm Club.
Also, note the minors include any professional or professionally-affiliated league other then the NHL.

2. Draft order will be reverse of the final standings.

3rd round - at the end of the round
4th and 5th round - at the end of the draft
4. Only players drafted in the NHL draft of that season or signed by an NHL team as a free agent after completion of the regular season are eligible to be drafted in our entry draft. In addition, only players who have played 39 NHL games or less are eligible and have been drafted by the NHL or signed an NHL contract prior to the start of the DTDL entry draft.
