Created in the hope this helps keep us all organized.(originally created March 20th 2015)
This thread is for players who go undrafted in real-life and sign an NHL contract at any age.
*Undrafted players signing their initial contracts during the season may be claimed through waivers.
-A link to the NHL.com website press release of the signing is required to be posted and serves as the date stamp. The day of the real-life signing counts as Day 1. The waiver claim period ends at the conclusion of Day 7.
-If such a player goes unclaimed in DTDL, they can be picked in our summer draft(less than 40 nhl gp), if undrafted they can be signed as a regular free agent in the fall at the opening of free agency.
*Undrafted players signing their initial contracts after the regular season ends/roster freeze begins, but before our DTDL draft starts may NOT be signed nor claimed. But they are eligible for the DTDL draft.
-If they go undrafted they can be signed as a regular free agent in the fall at the opening of free agency.
*Undrafted players signing their initial contracts during the off-season and after the start of our DTDL draft may be claimed thru waivers on the first day of the NHL regular season which counts as Day 1 concluding at the end of Day 7.
-should there be no claim submitted for a player, he WILL NOT be eligible to be signed as a free agent after the one week period. The earliest opportunity to acquire that player will be through the DTDL Entry draft(less than 40 nhl gp).If the player is not selected in that DTDL draft then they can be signed as a regular free agent in the fall at the opening of free agency.
All claims must be submitted during the waiver period. Should multiple claims occur the team seated in the bottom of the standings will win that claim. Waiver order during the initial 4 weeks of a season will be determine by the previous year's final regular standings. after the 4 week period the current year's standing will be used
